Loess Hills Computer Programming Elementary School in Sioux City is the inspiration for the State of Iowa’s Computer Science is Elementary project. Our District pioneered one of the first computer programming elementary schools in the nation in 2015 when Loess Hills started teaching computational thinking and other skills, such as problem solving and teamwork. As a leader in the specialty, Loess Hills earned the honor of being the blueprint school for the state’s project. The Blueprint for the State is a written guide available to other schools as they embark upon a journey that transforms the delivery of instruction.
